As Autumn welcomes us with very mild weather, now is the time to be thinking about a flu jab which is free of charge to certain groups of people who are registered in the Spanish Health System.
Everyone aged 60 or over is eligible and the injection can be obtained by visiting the local health centre where you are registered and generally no appointment is needed.
If you are not registered with the Spanish Health System, then it is still possible to obtain the injection from a private clinic or hospital but you will be required to pay for both the vaccine and the injection.
It takes about two weeks after the jab for protection to build up, so the earlier you obtain the injection the better chance you have of staying healthy.
It is also recommended by the Ministry of Health that a Covid-19 booster jab is given to anyone over 70 and the arrangements are generally the same as for the flu jab.
