The Lark in the Park is an annual charity event by the International Theatre Studio. Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro is their chosen charity this year.
Sunday 4th June is the date of this year’s event at the Parque Torre de Leonera in Benahavis. This is a magical outdoor, early evening event in a beautiful setting with a comedy play, a picnic, some superb entertainers and a chance for you to dance.
Carol Woolnoth will make a short introduction about what our charity does locally and how people can support us.
The Evening
The evening begins with a very funny one-act play directed by Veronica del Cerro. It is “Midsummer Night’s Dream in 17 Minutes or Less” written by Christine Harvey.
There is also a terrific line up of talented musicians to entertain you.
Headlining the event is the seriously talented Johnny G plus his special guests. Johnny G is a well-known artist, director and musician. He is a regular at some of the coast’s top night spots and we are lucky that he is performing for us at this charity event. He has a vast range of songs to get everyone in the party mood.
Melisa Carver, recently playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady at Salón Varietés, together with John Gale, the Director, will be singing hits from the show such as Wouldn’t It Be Lovely, I Could Have Danced All Night, On The Street Where You Live, Get Me To The Church On Time.
Plus, The Andalucia Performing Arts Society, also known as T.A.P.A.S. They are led by the choir’s director James Burn. They have chosen a selection of Lennon and McCartney songs, plus others to perform for us at the Lark.
Tickets
Entry to the Lark is via a donation made online on International Theatre Studio’s website. https://
The minimum donation for this fabulous event is 17 € per person. Reservations with a donation for this event can be made online on our website from Monday 15th May 2023.
We will be selling raffle tickets, both before the start of the event and during the interval, to help raise money to cover the running costs of the Social and Activity Centre in San Pedro.
Picnic Details
You will need to bring your own picnic and refreshments, as there are no facilities of this nature in the park. We picnic on the grassed areas, some guests bring tables, chairs and even candelabra. Cushions or folded blankets are recommended for the stone seats in the auditorium.
The park is open all day and you may wish to have your picnic before the show as well as during the interval.
Parking is free in the car park underneath the Benahavis Townhall. You are advised to drop off your guests and the picnic and then park your car.
The amphitheatre will open at 5.15 pm and the event starts at 6.00pm. The evening finishes at around 10 pm.
It’s a really fun event and we will need raffle ticket sellers on the day and raffle prizes, if you have anything suitable, please let us know as soon as possible.
Thank you all for your continued support.
