Carol Woolnoth
President - Welfare
Carol joined Age Concern in 2017 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Welfare, of both clients and volunteers. She also organised our Inaugural Ball in 2019 and is working to increase awareness of Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro in the local Spanish area, such as Marbella Town Hall and Social Services.
Carol is an English graduate but has had a varied career, including Information Officer for Lucas Industries Noise Control Centre, running a sawmill, proprietor of a garden fencing company, salesperson for Kristina Szekely and owner of a property management and rental company, before retiring in 2016.
Sue Morton
Secretary
Sue has lived and worked in several countries, normally in the Fashion Industry, although with a little shimmy via the steel industry.
Now retired to the Costa del Sol she specialises in writing things – minutes, emails, websites, posters etc and arranging books and jigsaws.
She has been involved with Age Concern since 2023.
Sandra Sprawson
Welfare & Helpline
Sandra was persuaded by Stephen Brooksbank to join Age Concern in 2016, while still working.
She has lived and worked in Marbella for 40 years, much of that time running a Turnkey Home Furnishing business. She therefore speaks Spanish and has numerous useful contacts who can help in all sorts of situations.
Now retired, she spends most of her time with her 3 rescue dogs and her rescued Bengali tiger cat, and trying to help home many other stray or abandoned animals. Sandra answers the Helpline, to try and help whoever calls in any way she can.
Steve Marshall

Steve was born in London in 1950. He was educated at boarding school and then carved out a career in sales, sales training and personal development. Prior to leaving the UK he was Head of Training and Personal Development with the UK´s largest vehicle retailer.
On arrival in Spain in the late 90´s he opened a bar named after his son (Tommy ). After 3 years his declining health meant he had to sell the business.
Retirement did not sit easily with Steve who then took the opportunity to become a Founder member of Age Concern Fuengirola and held the post of Secretary for almost 10 years until he retired.
He wanted to continue offering his services to others supporting older expats and was invited to join Age Concern Marbella – San Pedro. As he says he is delighted to still be able to “make a difference.”
Steve recently married his long term partner, Sally, in Barbados and his son continues to live in Spain and works in IT in a major hotel on the coast.
Lynda Woodin
PR & Marketing
Lynda was born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1947. She moved to Namibia in 1948 until 1952 where the family moved to Rhodesia. Lynda went to school in Rhodesia and was sent to finishing school in UK Winkfield place. She studied Psychology and Sociology at the UCT University. After studies she moved back to Rhodesia where she worked in Travel and moved to SA in 1973 to work and continue studying. She finished a marketing diploma and then worked for the largest retail company in SA.
Her family moved to Spain 1969 from Rhodesia and Lynda moved to Spain in 2011 and became involved with Age Concern Marbella when it started. She had been involved with PR and Marketing in South Africa and the UK from 1976 to date.
Simon Pecovnik
IT Manager
Simon joined Age Concern Marbella in 2020. His background is in IT and he manages Age Concern’s IT operations. Prior to moving to sunny south of Spain with his wife and three kids, he spent 15 years in the UK working in the software industry. Most notably he started a software company RAVN Systems with his friends, which went on to become a major player in Artificial Intelligence platforms and was acquired in 2017.
Simon is an eternal optimist, loves volunteering, but also finds time for hiking and exploring new places, he enjoys fishing and spending as much time as possible with his family.
