This Christmas many of us will enjoy a typical festive time. Friends, family, good food, a tipple or two and perhaps another pair of seasonal socks that really should be re-gifted.
But we should remember that there are a lot of older neighbours who dread the festive period. That´s when they miss friends and family the most. People in their lives who have either moved away or passed away.
We can all do something to ease that heartache. Pick up the phone and have a quick chat with someone who you´ve not been in touch with for a while. Wish them a “Merry Christmas” and see how the conversation flows from there
Pop into an elderly neighbour. Someone who you may only have a nodding acquaintance with but who will certainly welcome a chat and maybe a Christmas card – it´s the little things that WILL make a real difference.
If you have space at your Christmas table invite an elderly neighbour to join you and share the real spirit of the season.
